San José del Cabo

This town is located near the International Airport and is about 18 miles east of Cabo. It has a much more relaxed, traditionally Mexican feeling. You can enjoy walking along San José del Cabo’s picturesque streets surrounding the recently remodeled plaza. You’ll see many nice shops and galleries in the center of town, which is just a few blocks from the waterfront. One of the town’s greatest features is its large number of really fine gourmet restaurants.

 

The area northeast of San José is called ‘East Cape’ and it has many fabulous beaches and not nearly as many people. You really can enjoy walking on these beaches for miles without running into anyone. Here you will also find some of the best fishing in the world.

 

Farther up the eastern coast is La Paz. This is the capital city of Southern Baja and many people say that it is the most ‘Mexican’ of the southern cities. From here you can catch a ferry to the Mexican mainland.
